I'm so bad at the whole "Hey! How's your day? What are you up to this weekend?" small talk thing that happens on dating apps. By the third message I'm already bored and I think the other person can tell. I'm much better at deeper conversations about books, ideas, life philosophies, etc.
Are there any dating apps that skip the shallow small talk and actually match people based on compatibility or deeper interests? Or am I just doomed to suck at modern dating? 😅

Hinge was a game-changer because of the prompts. Instead of starting with "hey," you can comment on someone's answer to prompts like "A life goal of mine is..." or "I'm weirdly attracted to..." This gives you actual conversation starters based on who they are, not just their looks.

OkCupid! The question system is perfect for introverts. You answer personality and values questions (hundreds of them if you want), and the app shows you compatibility percentages.I met my girlfriend on OkCupid and our first message exchange was about our differing views on whether pineapple belongs on pizza (I said yes, she said no, we agreed to disagree 😂)

I'm going to be honest - I don't think the app matters as much as your approach. I use Tinder (yeah, I know, basic) but instead of "hey," my opening message is always something specific about their profile. If they have a photo hiking, I ask about the trail. If they mention a book, I ask what they're reading now. For introverts, the key is: ask questions that YOU would actually want to answer. If you hate "how's your day," don't ask that.
