Look, I'm 28, work a decent job, but I'm not about to spend $30-40/month on dating apps when I have student loans and rent to pay. But every free app I've tried is either full of bots, has zero matches, or hides all the good features behind a paywall.
Are there ANY truly free dating sites/apps where you can actually meet real people without paying? Or is modern dating just pay-to-play now? -
Tinder's free version actually works if you're patient. Yeah, they push Tinder Gold hard, but you can still use free features which is enough for me. You can also try Hinge, some friends of mine found their match there, but there're less free features.

Hi! POF is still free and functional. The app looks dated AF but it works. I'm not gonna lie, the user experience isn't as smooth as Tinder or Bumble, and you'll encounter some... interesting characters. But if you're willing to sort through profiles, there are real people on there. I went on 3 dates last month from POF, all free.

Hi! Hinge has a solid free version. The 8 likes limit actually forces you to be more intentional about who you like, which I think leads to better matches anyway. I've never paid for Hinge and I've had plenty of dates.
